Techno Stuff Is A Mystery To Me But I’ll Try Anyway

Posted by: From Arkansas in Techno Stuff, What's Wrong With This Picture? on Jul 08 2007

Welcome back!

This is going to be sounding like a braindead person wrote this to those who live, eat and breathe tech stuff. But here I am getting into the ring anyway. All mistakes are my own because I didn’t read it right or something. So, here goes.

People who are signed up with Verizon are getting a nasty wake up call when they order Verizon’s FiOS (fiber optics service). Those who bought it thought that they would be able to hold onto the past part of their service and receive more for their money. Ah but it did not go that way.

Seems that when they signed up, they got the new high bandwidth as ordered. BUT, the guy who installs the new stuff removes the copper wires that carry the old phone lines. Uh, does anyone see something wrong with this picture?

Now, the new high-bandwidth fiber lines are very able to carry the internet service and also the phone calls. However, when the copper lines are removed, the place is no longer able to have regular phone lines should someone else want that. They cannot have the less expensive Digital Subscriber Line service either. The caviat is that Verizon isn’t required to lease fiber to rival phone companies as it is with the copper infrastructure. That would be why their installer guys are pulling out the copper. No rivalry that way. No way to get back to the old lines.

Only one thing I can say there….BAD VERIZON!!! Eliminate the competition by removing the access. How dishonest can you folks actually get??? Hmmm?

Ya know what’s even worse? The next people to live in such a house will pay WAY higher bills because of that little deal. Verizon DSL costs about $15 but FiOS costs around $30 at the moment.

Hey Verizon, what if the people don’t want your dishonest selves giving them their service? Are you going to replace all that copper? I can see mucho lawsuits coming.
