We May Have Tapped You But You Can’t Sue Cuz We Won’t Tell

Welcome back!

In what I believe is yet another clue of what the government is twisting and turning in so many circles that no one can figure it out, the ACLU lost a case today that will likely cause more problems for the public than they can see for now.

Note: I almost never agree with the ACLU in anything they do because they find a case and run with it without any interest in the actual people involved. However, in this particular case I can see where this one should have some way of getting past the courts.

At the moment, this case concerning a wiretap situation, a federal appeals court with a 2-1 decision, held that the case the ACLU was bringing before them didn’t hold water because they could not prove that they were wiretapped.

The real problem here is that the government is not being forced to tell whether they did wiretap somebody or not. So, if you are wiretapped and cannot prove it, you have no case says the federal appeals court. And of course, you cannot prove it because it’s a secret. This is the way the law is interpreted by the federal court.

Okay, I am officially dizzy here. There may or may not be a wiretap. But if there is, you won’t know because it is a secret. If there isn’t, you do not know that either because….yep, it’s a secret. Typical government go-round.
