Talk About Ridiculous–66 Hot Dogs In Ten Minutes!

Joey Chestnut squared off against the current world title holder, Takeru Kobayashi, of most hot dogs consumed in a ten minute time period. They had to have a weigh-in yesterday before the big contest at Coney Island, N.Y. Kobayashi is the 6 time winner of this contest. Though his jaw was injured, he believed that he could continue to win this contest. Unfortunately, he did not. Joey Chestnut is now the new title holder.
I have no idea why anyone would actually want to do this. Oh yes, the weigh-in. Kobayashi weighs in at 154 lbs. and Mr. Chestnut weighs in at 215 and claiming that Mr. Kobayashi was somehow making excuses. I rather doubt that since he won 6 years in a row.
Chestnut was a favorite to win this year. He had squared off with Kobayashi in other contests and has won several.
Again, I have no idea why anyone would choose to do this type of thing. And from what I read, these people go around the world doing this same thing. It’s like golfers, tennis pros or other types of competition. The one thing that is different is that it has no sense to it at all. Ah but this is America, land of the free….uh huh…..home of the brave. Happy Independence Day.
