Want A Big Bargain? Dracula’s Castle On The Block
Posted by: From Arkansas in Just Plain Weird on Jul 02 2007
Welcome back!
Of all the things that you expected to find to buy, I’m thinking one of them really wasn’t Dracula’s Castle, now was it. Big shocker to me. A member of the family who owns the castle wants the prospective buyer to respect the history of the Bran Castle. It currently is a tourist attraction due to it’s ties to the infamous Vlad the Impaler who was the “inspiration” for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
The legend says that Vlad spent a night at the castle in the 1400s. It is said that Vlad the Impaler was famous for how he tortured his enemies. Yummy. Glad we could remember him for something. Yuk!
The castle was built in the 1400s and more recently restored in the 1980s. Following the end of communist rule in Romania, it became the tourist attraction it is today. The castle was given back to one of the royal family heirs in May 2006. He chooses to sell it. And of course, an American investment company has jumped on that one.
So, the Japanese, the India folk, the Muslim people, etc. are all buying up the U.S. and one of us is buying Dracula’s Castle. Uh huh. Makes sense….where?????
